Vitthal Rukmini Varkari Bima Chhatra Yojana has been launched by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The scheme was announced to be launched by Maharashtra on 21 June 2023 to provide security and financial assistance to the people of the state through this scheme. Through Vitthal Rukmini Varkari Bima Yojana, the devotees who will participate in the Path Yatra during Ashadi Ekadashi will be provided life insurance facility by the government.

Under this scheme, the benefit of insurance coverage ranging from Rs 35 thousand to Rs 5 lakh will be given by the government. The benefit of this insurance will be available only if a devotee suffers any loss, disability or death within 30 days from the commencement of the yatra.
