What is UP Swami Vivekanand Yuva Sashaktikaran Yojana 2023?

Uttar Pradesh Mukhaymantri Yogi Adityanath launched the Swami Vivekananda Youth Yuva Sashaktikaran Yojana. Smartphones and tablets will be distributed to the youth of the state through this scheme. Through this scheme, Mukhyamantri Yogi Adityanath will provide the benefit of free smartphone devices to the youth of the state for the next 5 years. Soon, in the first phase of 2023-24, smartphones will be distributed to the youth studying in higher education institutions from November. UP DESCO, the nodal agency for the smartphone purchase scheme, has finalized the process by issuing instructions to the officials.

In April, the Uttar Pradesh government floated tenders for the purchase of 10 lakh tablets and 25 lakh smartphones and signed contracts with companies like Samsung, Acer, and Lava. For this, he approved the proposal of Rs.3600 crores. Through this scheme, the UP government will provide free smartphones or tablets to 25 lakh youth in the financial year 2023-24. For this purpose, the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath approved Rs 3600 crore. The state government will spend this amount on the distribution of smartphones and tablet devices. 25 lakh youth will benefit from this scheme in the financial year 2023-24. Four companies have been selected through the GEM portal for the supply of smartphones. In the first phase, 3.75 lakh Samsung and Lava smartphones will be distributed.

Under the Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme, the Uttar Pradesh government provides free smartphones or tablets to the youth. With this decision taken by the Yogi government, free smartphone and tablet devices will be provided to the youth of the state who are pursuing graduation, post-graduation, diploma, technical education, health education, skill development training, and ITI to make them technically proficient. Among these, Infosys will make the Springboard platform available free of cost to the state government under the CSR scheme for youth digital empowerment and skill development.
