Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana Objective

PM Kusum Yojana has been started by the central government, under which the government has set an objective that electricity should be made available to the farmer brothers absolutely free of cost. Under the scheme, farmers will be provided with the facility of solar panels to irrigate their fields so that they can irrigate their crops on time and be able to produce bumper crops. If Kisan Bhai makes a grid and sends it under the scheme, he will also get its price. The government has said that it is aiming to convert more than 17.5 lakh diesel pumps and 3 crore agricultural pumps to solar energy in the coming 10 years under the Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana.

Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana Components

There are mainly 4 components of Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana, whose information is as follows:-

Solar Pump Distribution:- During the first phase of the Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana by the Central Government, the Electrical Department in collaboration with the Department will successfully distribute solar energy powered pumps.
Modernization of existing pumps:- The pumps that are already installed will be modernized and the old pumps will be replaced with new solar pumps.
Construction of Solar Energy Factory:- Solar Energy Factory will also be constructed which will have the capacity to produce electricity in good quantity.
Establishment of Tubewell:- Tubewell will also be established by the government which will generate a limited amount of electricity.

Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana Features

Deposit amount:- If a person sets up a solar energy unit by investing his own money under this scheme, then in such a situation the deposit amount will be deposited by the person at the rate of 1,00,000 per MW. It will have to be given in the form of demand draft and bank guarantee, whose validity will be at least 6 months.
Performance Security Amount:- This money will be returned back to the successful applicants after 15 days of signing the PPA. Apart from this, for setting up a solar energy unit, the SPG will have to deposit a project performance security amount at the rate of Rs 5,00,000 per MW. The validity of this money will be for 15 days and when the project starts, then after 1 month this money will have to be returned.
Benefits to the farmers:- Through the solar pumps that the farmers are getting under the scheme, they are able to irrigate the crops present in their fields whenever they want, due to which their crops are growing properly and They are also getting good price for the crop. Due to this scheme, the farmer brothers are able to irrigate their fields even when there is no electricity.
Installation of pumpset in the farm:- Pumpsets ranging from 3 horse power to 7.5 horse power are being installed under the scheme. Farmers have to deposit ₹ 20549 for 3 horse power, ₹ 33749 for 5 horse power and ₹ 46687 for 7 and a half horse power as demand. Only after this the pumpset can be installed by the farmers in their fields.
Time to set up Solar Electrical Unit:- After applying in Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana, letter of authorization is issued by the concerned department to SPG to set up solar energy unit, whose validity is 9 months. That is, the solar energy unit should be established within 9 months. Penalty will have to be paid if the unit is not installed within the stipulated time. If the documents submitted by SPG are wrong, then in such a situation the application will be invalidated at any time.

Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana Benifit

Farmer brothers of every state of the country will be able to get the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana.
Under this scheme, farmers will get solar irrigation pump at a very low cost.
Under the scheme, solarization of more than 10 lakh solar pumps will be done.
In the first phase of this scheme, more than 17,00,000 such irrigation pumps will be run from solar panels, which were earlier run on diesel, due to which the consumption of diesel in those areas will be reduced significantly.
Due to the scheme, extra electricity will also be produced.
If a farmer brother installs solar panels under this scheme, then 60 percent financial assistance will be given to him by the government and about 30 percent financial assistance will be given by the bank and in this way the farmer brothers will have to pay only 10 percent from their side.
The maximum benefit of this scheme will be given to the farmers of such states, where there is less rainfall or where there is not enough electricity available for irrigation.
With the establishment of the solar plant, the farmers will be able to get electricity 24 hours a day, due to which the farmers will be able to easily irrigate their fields whenever they want.
Farmer brothers will be able to sell that electricity to the government or private electricity department as per their wish, which will be generated through solar panels.
The solar panels that will be installed under this scheme will be installed on barren land only, so that barren land can also be used and farmer brothers can also earn from their barren land.

Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana Eligibility

The person applying in PM Kusum Yojana must be an Indian resident.
Farmers, group of farmers, cooperatives, panchayats, farmer producer organizations, water consumer associations, etc. will get the benefit of this scheme.
According to per MW, about 2 hectares of land should be required near Kisna.

Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana New Updates

The following amendments have been made so far under Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana. Which are as follows:-

New allotment to farmers

The scope of Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana has been increased once again by the government. Now according to the new update, a new allotment will be given to the farmers under this scheme in the country, after which the farmers will be able to set up their own power units. This has been announced by the Ministry of Energy of India. According to the Ministry of Energy, solar electrical units will also be set up on barren land, agricultural land, pasture and marshy land.

Installation of 15,000 solar pumps in Uttar Pradesh

In the year 2022, on May 26, the first budget of its second term was presented by the UP government, under which it was said that 15,000 more solar pumps would be installed to provide free irrigation to farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Aur Utthan Yojana. will be installed. In this way, under this budget, farmers will be able to get free irrigation through about 34307 government tube wells and 252 small branch canals.

Announced By Uttar Pradesh Government

Under the PM Kusum scheme, the Uttar Pradesh government is providing solar pumps to the farmers living in some districts of UP on the basis of first come first serve basis. These districts include the districts of Lucknow, Saharanpur, Meerut, Ayodhya, Aligarh and Gorakhpur divisions, Agra, Moradabad, Bareilly, Devipatan, Azamgarh, Kanpur, Jhansi, Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Varanasi and Chitrakoot divisions.

Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana Registration

Online and offline applications can be made in Kusum Yojana. Under the Kusum Yojana, one can apply for setting up a solar power unit and for renting land. The list of people who have registered for letting out their land will be uploaded on the official website of RREC. If online registration has been done by the applicant then Application ID will be received. At the stage of online application, the person will have to take out the print of the application form and keep it safe with him. If the application is made offline by the person, then the person gets a receipt, it has to be preserved.
