Kerala Social Security Mission 2023 – The Government of Kerala implements various schemes to provide social security to the poor, needy, elderly, children, women, chronically ill cancer patients and other sections of the society. What is Kerala Social Security Mission 2023

The Government of Kerala has launched the Kerala Social Security Mission organized under the Department of Social Justice of Kerala. Through this mission, services and assistance are provided to the needy, the poor, the elderly, children, women, chronically ill cancer patients and other sections of the population. Through this mission, social security schemes for the weaker sections of the society are initiated and implemented. Besides this, centralized food processing and food supplementation is also ensured for poor patients undergoing treatment in government hospitals. This operation rehabilitates patients who are discharged from hospital and have no place to go.

The scheme also addresses the health condition of the poor to balance the society. Through this scheme, various types of programs are also implemented to improve the health condition by providing nutritious quality food to the needy. This mission is working to identify the weaker sections of the society and improve their condition.

Cancer prevention for children

This project was started for the treatment of cancer in children. Under this scheme, the entire cost of treatment, including the cost of investigation, will be borne by the hospital through the funds provided under the Mission. Initially, the cost limit per child will be Rs 50000 but the hospital may charge additional charges if required. Beneficiaries can avail the benefits of this scheme directly from the hospitals

Kid Friendly

About 75,000 children under the age of 18 live in orphanages. For all those children, Kerala Government has started Sneh Purva. Under this scheme, financial assistance is provided to orphan children. To raise the standard of living of children, the government provides financial assistance ranging from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 per month. Applicants must submit the application to the head of the government or aided institutions along with all the required documents before 31st October every year. Children below 5 years of age can apply directly to the Executive Director of Kerala Social Security Mission through their respective Child Welfare Committee.

Talulam for kids

Kerala government has launched this scheme to provide free treatment to children suffering from chronic diseases like hemophilia, cerebral palsy, etc. Under this scheme, all children below 18 years of age are treated free of cost. The initial assistance provided under this scheme will be Rs 50000. If required, additional financial assistance can also be provided under this scheme.

Horse Riding Center for Senior Citizens/Disabled Persons

Almost all physically or mentally disabled patients require caregivers who are family members or relatives. Under this scheme, the government is going to provide monthly financial assistance of Rs 600 to the caregivers who are unable to take up employment for self-reliance. The government launched this scheme on 2 August 2010. From August 2, 2010, all citizens providing care services to patients will pay monthly financial assistance.

Hunger Free Cities for Critical Illness

The scheme was launched to provide free rice-based meal with vegetable curry at lunch time to patients suffering from chronic disease in hospitals or specified places. This food will be provided free of cost to the public including spectators. This scheme was started to ensure that no citizen of the city goes without having at least one meal a day.

Age Limit for Senior Citizens

Through this scheme, health care and support is provided to senior citizens above 65 years of age living in corporation or municipal corporation areas of the state. Under this scheme, free medicines are provided through mobile clinics, palliative care, counseling services etc.

Karunya Deposit for Persons with Disabilities

The scheme was launched to mobilize resources for medical and educational support for physically and mentally challenged citizens studying in special schools or inmates of orphanages, institutions, etc. Depositors are attracted under this scheme. Deposit at least Rs 1 lakh or more as Corporate Social Responsibility Fund. This amount will be deposited in the state treasury for one year and can be renewed on an annual basis. The interest and equivalent amount given by the government is used to meet the special needs of children

Expectations for women

The government has implemented the Prayas scheme for all those families who are struggling to afford the marriage of their daughters. It is basically a joint venture with individuals, corporates and Kerala Social Security Mission. Poor families are not able to afford the expenses of girls. This scheme has been started to help such families. Under this scheme, beneficiaries will get marriage assistance of Rs 50000 each, which will be collected by individuals, corporates and Kerala Social Security Mission. To avail the benefits of this scheme, the annual family income of the beneficiary should be less than Rs 60000.

Snehasantavanam for physically handicapped/chronically ill people

Under this scheme, financial assistance of Rs 700 per month is provided to the caregivers of endosulfan victims who are completely bedridden or mentally handicapped. Rs 2200 for all other bed-ridden Endosulfan victims. Rs 300 for disabled Endosulfan victims receiving disability pension, Rs 1700. Based on the list provided by the District Magistrate, Rs 1200 will be given to Endosulfan victims. Financial assistance will be provided from December 2010. The scheme provides educational assistance to children from endosulfan affected families. Children studying in Buds School are given financial assistance of Rs 2000. Rs 2000 for students studying in class 1 to 7, Rs 3000 for students studying in class 8 to 10. And Rs 4000 for children studying in Plus 2.

Solace for chronic illness

To provide care and protection to the vulnerable sections of our community, this scheme has been launched. Under this scheme, financial assistance is provided to the beneficiaries. Through this scheme, kidney patients belonging to BPL families and undergoing dialysis once a month will get Rs 1100 per month. To avail the benefits of the scheme, the applicant must have a nationalized bank account.

Vyomithram for senior citizens	The age of the applicant should be more than 65 years. The applicant should be selected in a corporation or municipality.
